Scott Hall, owner of Hall Rod Company, featured in Fly Fusion magazine's Ultimate Rod Review

Designed in Fergus. Refined on the water.

"I design every taper myself. From prototype to finished rod, each one is fished and tested — by me, by professional anglers, by guides — then refined at the factory, over and over, until it's worthy of the Hall Rod name."

— Scott Hall

"I love my "grand" rod. Since getting it, it has made casting so much easier and enjoyable. The rod is light and well balanced, when walking through the bush I can hold it with just a couple fingers. Plus the design is beautiful I love to show it off in pictures with the fish I catch."

"The Hall Rod Co. 5 wt has become the most reliable tool in my lineup. The taper is exceptionally well-balanced—fast enough to generate tight, wind-cutting loops, yet progressive enough to load smoothly at short and medium distances. That combination makes precision presentations, long upstream mends, and extended drag-free drifts feel automatic. I put this rod through a true test in the Arctic chasing grayling, where 30 km/h winds and constant casting pressure expose weaknesses fast. The Hall 5 wt held its tracking, recovered cleanly, and had enough butt strength to turn larger fish without compromising tippet protection. Built by a Canadian company out of Fergus, Ontario, it's a rod engineered for real fishing conditions—not just lawn-casting. For anglers who want a versatile 5 wt with excellent loading characteristics, dependable loop stability, and genuine fish-fighting backbone, this stick stands out"

"I've been casting the 7wt Tailwater this fall for bass and steelhead. This rod helped me land one of my best fish this weekend with confidence. Great backbone in the rod to put the needed leverage on big fish while delicate enough to throw accurate casts with a nymphing rig and then mend the line in strong winds. This is my go to steelhead rod. Then we can talk about how good this thing looks! Thanks!"

"I just picked up the 9' 5-weight fly rod combo and was honestly surprised by how good the rod and reel feel for the price. Great value. I also had the chance to speak with Scott, the owner, you can hear the passion right away, and it shows in the product. Really impressed!"

"I purchased the Grand in 5wt from Hall Rods when they first started and have thoroughly enjoyed fishing with it. It casts like a dream, and gives great feedback when fighting fish. Great all around rod for resident trout, which I enjoy more than some of the more expensive rods out there. I have fished dries, streamers, and nymphs on it with success. Looking forward to seeing what rods they come out with next!"

"I recently picked up the Current 8wt model for the tail end of bass season. I'm really impressed by the rod. I'm able to cast further and more accurately with it than with other 8wts I've had previously. It's handled some nice 18" fish really well. Love the subtle, matte blank on the rod. And the rod sock is made from a more substantial fabric than what most companies use. Love the attention to detail. Can't wait for my next rod from Hall Rod Co!"
